Recall 21V503000

Exterior Lighting — Maintainer · reported 1 Jul 2021 · 1 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Maintainer Corporation of Iowa, Inc. (Maintainer) is recalling one 2015 Custom Bodies Heavy Rescue Truck. The all-in-one rear LED lights may be too bright, exceeding the maximum light output allowed which may adversely affect the vision of drivers. As such, this vehicle fails to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

The risk

The excessive brightness may affect the vision of other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Maintainer will notify the owner, and provide instructions on how to obtain a filter kit from the light manufacturer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 23, 2021. Owners may contact Maintainer's customer service at 1-800-831-8588.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
