What's wrong

Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2020-2021 D2000, 3000, and 4000 Derrick diggers. A retaining ring in the gearbox assembly was improperly seated during production, allowing the boom to unintentionally rotate freely.

The risk

Unintended boom movement increases the risk of injury.

The fix

Altec will repair the gearbox assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 3, 2021. Owners may contact Altec's customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 827.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
