Recall 21V514000 · manufacturer campaign WAY-100

Tires › Valve — Wayfarer · reported 7 Jul 2021 · 1,861 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Wayfarer is recalling certain 2017-2021 Wayfarer recreational vehicles. The valve stem extender may rub against the wheel liner, causing damage to the valve stem.

The risk

A damaged valve stem can cause a sudden loss of tire pressure, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Owners will be instructed to remove the wheel liners, free of charge. Wayfarer is working to develop a final remedy that allows the liners to be reinstalled. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 16, 2022. Owners may contact Wayfarer customer service at 1-256-356-8661. Wayfarer's number for this recall is WAY-100.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
