Recall 21V546000 · manufacturer campaign 21KWE

Visibility › Defroster/defogger/hvac System — Kenworth · reported 20 Jul 2021 · 6,916 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2022 Kenworth T680, T880, and W990 vehicles. The HVAC controls may have insufficient soldering between the potentiometer(s) and the PCBA board, resulting in windshield defrost failure.

The risk

Inoperative windshield defrost may reduce driver visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Dealers will replace HVAC control head, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on September 17, 2021. Remedy parts are expected to be available mid-June, 2022. Owners may contact PACCAR's customer service at 1-425-828-5888 (Kenworth). PACCAR's number for this recall is 21KWE.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
