Fuel System, Diesel › Pre-heater — Starcraft Bus · reported 10 Aug 2021 · 4 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Starcraft Allstar XL transit buses equipped with Cummins B6.7 diesel engines. The electric fuel heater within the fuel module may overheat, causing plastic in the fuel heater to melt and potentially catch fire. It may also lead to engine stalling.

The risk

A fire increases the risk of injury. An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.

The fix

Cummins will replace the fuel heater with a newly designed fuel heater, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 18, 2021. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-348-7440. Forest River's number for this recall is 05-1401.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
