Recall 21V714000 · manufacturer campaign FL-902
Engine And Engine Cooling › Cooling System › Fan — Thomas Built Buses · reported 15 Sep 2021 · 50 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2022 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner HDX school buses. The fan drive pulley assembly bolts may be incorrect or improperly installed. Incorrect or improperly installed bolts may lead to a loose fan belt, resulting in a disabled bus.
The risk
A disabled school bus may require an evacuation procedure in an uncontrolled traffic situation, increasing the risk of injury.
The fix
DTNA will inspect and repair the fan drive pulley assembly mounting bolts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 12, 2021. Owners may contact DTNA's customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-902.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
