Recall 21V719000 · manufacturer campaign 21PBL
Electronic Stability Control (esc) › Control Module › Software — Peterbilt · reported 16 Sep 2021 · 19 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2022 Peterbilt 567 and 579 vehicles. The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction indicator lamp may not illuminate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 136, "Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles."
The risk
The driver may be unaware of an ESC system malfunction, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Dealers will reprogram the ESC system, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 28, 2021. Owners may contact PACCAR's customer service at 1-940-591-4220 (Peterbilt). PACCAR's number for this recall is 21PBL.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
