Recall 21V910000

Power Train › Axle Assembly — Ferrara · reported 19 Nov 2021 · 34 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc. (Ferrara) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Inferno and Cinder emergency vehicles. The rear axle drive pinion may fracture.

The risk

A fractured drive pinion may contact the brake drop hose, and unintentionally engage the parking brake or activate the brake lights, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Meritor will inspect and replace the drive pinion, as necessary, free of charge. Owners notification letters were mailed on January 3, 2022. Owners may contact Ferrara customer service at 1-800-443-9006.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
