What's wrong
Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling one 2021 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner HDX transit bus. The gross axle weight rating (GAWR) may be improperly stated on the label. As such, this vehicle fails to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 136, "Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles."
The risk
The operator may overload the vehicle while referencing the incorrect label, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
A dealer will apply a new label, free of charge. The owner notification letter is expected to be mailed January 16, 2022. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL911.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
