Equipment Adaptive/mobility › Wheelchair Lift/ramp — Thomas Built Buses · reported 20 Dec 2021 · 2 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2022 Thomas Built Minotour School Buses built on a Ford chassis. The driver may be able to release the parking brake and shift into a drive gear while the wheelchair lift is deployed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 404, "Platform Lift Installations."

The risk

Bus movement with the wheelchair lift deployed can increase the risk of injury.

The fix

DTNA service facilities will modify the wheelchair lift wiring as necessary, free of charge. No owner notifications will be distributed to owners. The recall was completed February 17, 2022. Owner may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL916.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
