What's wrong

Hino Motors Sales U.S.A., Inc. (Hino) is recalling one 2021 NJ8A vehicle. The end fittings on the replacement air brake hose assembly may not have the manufacturer designation. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 106, "Brake Hoses."

The risk

The air brake hose end fitting may not be traceable should there be a safety recall, increasing the risk of a crash, injury, or fire.

The fix

A dealer will replace the air brake hose, free of charge. Owners may contact Hino customer service at 1-248-699-9390. Hino's number for this recall is AANT0.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
