What's wrong

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Western Star 49X and 2021 Western Star 47X vehicles. The windshield wiper linkages may break, causing the windshield wipers to fail.

The risk

Inoperative windshield wipers can reduce visibility in certain driving conditions, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Dealers will inspect and replace the windshield wiper arm and linkage parts, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 6, 2022. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-926.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
