⚠️ Do Not Drive advisory. NHTSA and the manufacturer advise owners of affected vehicles not to drive them until this recall is repaired.

What's wrong

Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2022-2023 IC CE, IC RE and 2023 IC 1300FBC transit buses. The steering wheel retaining nut may have been tightened incorrectly, which can allow the steering wheel to loosen and detach from the steering column shaft.

The risk

A loose or detached steering wheel increases the risk of a crash.

The fix

Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the repair has been performed. Dealers will remove the steering wheel nut, apply thread locker, and reinstall the nut, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 2022. Owners may contact Navistar, Inc. customer service at 1-331- 332-1590. Navistar number for this recall is 22512.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
