Steering › Linkages › Tie Rod Assembly — Autocar · reported 16 Sep 2022 · 236 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Autocar, LLC (Autocar) is recalling certain 2022 ACX (Xpeditor) trucks. The tie rod clamps may have been improperly heat-treated, causing them to fail and allowing the tie rods to separate.

The risk

Separated tie rods can result in a sudden loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Dealers will replace the tie rod clamps, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 14, 2022. Owners may contact Autocar's customer service at 1-888-218-3611. Autocar's number for this recall is ACX-2205.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
