Steering › Linkages › Tie Rod Assembly — International · reported 22 Sep 2022 · 451 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2022-2023 International HX vehicles. The tie rod clamps may have been improperly heat-treated, causing them to fail and allowing the tie rods to separate.

The risk

Tie rod separation can result in a sudden loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Dealers will replace both tie rod end clamps, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 30, 2022. Owners may contact Navistar's customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 22520.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
