Recall 22V892000 · manufacturer campaign 74B324

Steering › Linkages › Tie Rod Assembly — Pierce · reported 2 Dec 2022 · 17 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Pierce Manufacturing (Pierce) is recalling certain 2022 Saber, Enforcer, and Arrow XT fire trucks. The tie rod clamps may have been improperly heat-treated, causing them to crack and allowing the tie rods to separate.

The risk

Tie rod separation can result in a sudden loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Dealers will replace the tie rod clamps, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 26, 2023. Owners may contact Pierce's customer service at 1-888-974-3723. Pierce's number for this recall is 74B324.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
