Electrical System › Adas › Driver Monitoring › Camera/sensor — Mercedes-benz · reported 10 Feb 2023 · 3 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2022 EQS580 vehicles. The multi-purpose camera and the rearview mirror may be insufficiently attached to the windshield and may detach, impairing front passenger air bag deployment and various assistance systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control (DISTRONIC) with active steering assist, Brake Assists with pedestrian detection, Lane Keeping Assists, Traffic Sign Assist, Augmented Reality function and Rain and Light Sensors.
The risk
Impaired deployment of an air bag can increase the risk of injury. Impaired driver assistance safety systems can increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
Dealers will replace the windshield and reinstall the multi-purpose camera and rearview mirror as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 31, 2023. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2023030002.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
