Recall 23V249000 · manufacturer campaign 23VDC0301
Parking Brake — Nikola · reported 6 Apr 2023 · 364 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Nikola Corporation (Nikola) is recalling certain 2022-2024 TRE BEV trucks. The electronic parking brake valve module (PVM) may fail to move into the park position when the parking brake is activated.
The risk
A parking brake that is not engaged as expected when the driver releases the brakes may allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of crash.
The fix
Dealers will replace the PVM, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 1, 2023. Owners may contact Nikola customer service at 1-630-808-4531. Nikola's number for this recall is 23VDC0301.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
