Recall 23V368000

Exterior Lighting — Fontaine · reported 25 May 2023 · 545 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Fontaine Trailer Company (Fontaine Trailer) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Fontaine HACCFON51CTS 40-foot container trailers. The trailers may be missing the rear reflex reflectors. As such, these trailers fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

The risk

Missing rear reflex reflectors reduce the trailer's visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Fontaine will provide the reflex reflectors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 5, 2023. Owners may contact Fontaine Trailer customer service at 1-800-821-6535, option 5.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
