Electrical System › Propulsion System › Traction Battery — Volvo · reported 24 Jul 2023 · 172 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2020-2024 VNR Electric vehicles. The rivnut threaded inserts inside the high-voltage battery may be over-tightened and break, which could result in a short circuit.

The risk

An electrical short circuit increases the risk of a fire.

The fix

Dealers will replace the batteries, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed September 15, 2023. Owners will receive a second notice once remedy becomes available. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX2308.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
