Recall 23V543000

Steering — Hyundai Translead · reported 2 Aug 2023 · 2 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Hyundai Translead is recalling certain 2022 V/T 53SW Q29485 VI2530154-AFJ Dry Van trailers equipped with Dexter Smart-Steer 2.0 Axles with bolt-on steering arms. The steering arm may fracture during certain conditions, such as low speed and high side-loading.

The risk

The fractured steering arm and tie rod can separate and fall to the ground, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Dealers will install a new steering arm and additional welds, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 7, 2023. Owners may contact Hyundai Translead customer service at 1-800-251-0871.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
