Recall 23V746000 · manufacturer campaign SC0453
Steering › Critical Fasteners — Mack · reported 7 Nov 2023 · 74 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2024 MD trucks. The steering wheel attachment bolt may loosen and separate from the steering shaft, causing the steering wheel to detach.
The risk
A detached steering wheel can cause a loss of steering control and increase the risk of a crash.
The fix
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the repair has been performed. Dealers will replace the steering wheel retention bolt, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 20, 2023. Owners may contact Mack's customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0453.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
