Recall 23V819000

Electrical System › Wiring — Ferrara · reported 6 Dec 2023 · 6 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Ferrara Fire apparatus, Inc. (Ferrara) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Inferno Aerial Fire Apparatus trucks. In the event of a short circuit or wiring failure, the firmware in the vehicle multiplex system may fail to shut off the output pin, resulting in overloaded electrical circuits.

The risk

Overloaded electrical circuits can overheat, increasing the risk of fire.

The fix

Ferrara will work with the equipment manufacturer to update the firmware, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 26, 2024. Owners may contact Ferrara customer service at 1-800-443-9006.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
