Recall 23V887000 · manufacturer campaign SC0456
Steering › Linkages › Knuckle › Spindle › Arm — Mack · reported 22 Dec 2023 · 5 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Mack Trucks, Inc (Mack) is recalling certain 2024 Granite vehicles. The bearing journals may not be fully seated in the steering knuckle assembly, preventing the proper installation of the wheel end hub assembly.
The risk
An improperly installed wheel end hub assembly can leak oil, causing the axle spindles to loosen or fracture and increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Hendrickson will inspect and replace the steering knuckle assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 2, 2024. Owners may contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0456.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
