Recall 24V008000

Electrical System › Wiring — Pl Custom · reported 9 Jan 2024 · 39 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

PL Custom Emergency Vehicles (PL Customs) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Ambulance & Rescue Vehicle Type 1 and Type 3 vehicles. In the event of a short circuit or wiring failure, the firmware in the vehicle multiplex system may fail to shut off the output pin, resulting in overloaded electrical circuits.

The risk

Overloaded electrical circuits can overheat, increasing the risk of fire.

The fix

Dealers will update the firmware, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 25, 2024. Owners may contact PL Custom customer service at 1-732-223-1411.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
