Electrical System — Hino · reported 7 Feb 2024 · 12,118 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Hino Motors Sales U.S.A., Inc. (Hino) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Hino NE7A, NE7B, NH7A, NH9A, NH9B, NH9C, NJ7A, NJ7B, NJ7C, NV7A, NV7B, NV7C, NM9A, NM9B, TH9K, and TM9K vehicles. The ground connection in the telematics control unit harness may not be secured properly, which can result in the ground connection overheating.
The risk
An overheated ground connection can increase the risk of a fire.
The fix
Dealers will inspect and repair the ground circuit and replace any damaged harnesses as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 29, 2024. Owners may contact Hino customer service at (248) 699-9300. Hino's number for this recall is M0460.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
