Seat Belts › Front — Bugatti · reported 9 Feb 2024 · 156 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Bugatti is recalling certain 2016-2023 Bugatti Chiron vehicles. The audible chime may not activate when the vehicle starts, and the driver has not buckled their seat belt. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

The risk

The driver may be unaware that their seat belt is not fastened, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

The fix

Dealers will update the instrument cluster software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 1, 2024. Owners may contact Bugatti customer service at 1-703-826-7545. Bugatti's number for this recall is BUGCR036.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
