Recall 24V121000 · manufacturer campaign RVXX2401
Steering › Gear Box › Shaft Sector — Volvo · reported 19 Feb 2024 · 45 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2024-2025 VNL and VNR vehicles. The steering gear sector shaft may have been improperly heat-treated, which can cause the gear teeth to crack or fracture.
The risk
A fractured steering gear shaft can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Dealers will inspect the serial numbers, and replace the steering gears, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 5, 2024. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo Truck's number for this recall is RVXX2401.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
