Recall 24V126000

Electrical System › Wiring — Spencer · reported 21 Feb 2024 · 8 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Spencer Manufacuring, Inc. (Spencer) is recalling certain 2020 pumper fire trucks equipped with Weldon 8X16 Input-Output nodes. In the event of a short circuit or wiring failure, the firmware in the node may fail to shut off the output pin, resulting in overloaded electrical circuits.

The risk

Overloaded electrical circuits can overheat, increasing the risk of fire.

The fix

Weldon will update the firmware, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 24, 2024. Owners may contact Akron Brass customer service at 1-800-228-1161 or Spencer customer service at 1-269-637-8721.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Vehicles covered by this recall

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
