Electrical System — Pierce · reported 26 Feb 2024 · 15 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Pierce Manufacturing (Pierce) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Commercial Chassis equipped with Hercules HC 1.7 multiplex nodes. In the event of a short circuit or wiring failure, the firmware in the node may fail to shut off the output pin, resulting in overloaded electrical circuits.

The risk

Overloaded electrical circuits can overheat, increasing the risk of fire.

The fix

Weldon will update the firmware, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a schedule for recall notification. Owners may contact Pierce customer service at 1-888-974-3723. Pierce's number for this recall is 74B334.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
