Recall 24V258000

Electrical System › Wiring — Hi-tech E.v.s. · reported 10 Apr 2024 · 29 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Hi-Tech E.V.S. is recalling certain 2020-2023 Gladiator and Metrostar fire trucks equipped with Weldon 8X16 Input-Output nodes. In the event of a short circuit or wiring failure, the firmware in the node may fail to shut off the output pin, resulting in overloaded electrical circuits.

The risk

Overloaded electrical circuits can overheat, increasing the risk of fire.

The fix

Weldon will update the firmware, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 29, 2024. Owners may contact Akron Brass customer service at 1-800-228-1161 or Hi-Tech customer service at 1-209-847-3042.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
