Electrical System — Braun Ambulances · reported 30 Apr 2024 · 29 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Braun Ambulances (Braun Ambulances) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Chief XL I, Chief XL III, Express Plus I, Express III, and Liberty I vehicles. In the event of a short circuit or wiring failure, the firmware in the node may fail to shut off the output pin, resulting in overloaded electrical circuits.

The risk

Overloaded electrical circuits can overheat, increasing the risk of fire.

The fix

Dealers will update the firmware, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 17, 2024. Owners may contact Braun Ambulances customer service at 1-877-344-9990. Braun Ambulances number for this recall is 24-003.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
