Equipment › Mechanical › Boom/crane/ladder — Altec · reported 23 May 2024 · 1,128 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Altec LR7 and LR8 aerial devices. The hydraulic cylinder feeder tube routed near the cylinder rest bracket may become damaged and leak oil, which can result in uncontrolled boom movement.

The risk

Uncontrolled movement of the boom can increase the risk of injury.

The fix

Altec will replace the cylinder rest pad and the feeder tube if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 22, 2024. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN-3142.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
