Recall 24V365000 · manufacturer campaign R24DA
Fuel System, Other › Storage › Tank Assembly — Blue Bird · reported 23 May 2024 · 112 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
Blue Bird Body Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Vision school buses. The diesel tank that supplies the fuel fired heater was improperly designed and may leak fuel. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 301, "Fuel System Integrity."
The risk
A fuel leak onto the road creates a hazard for other road users, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, a fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
The fix
Dealers will repair the tank, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 08, 2024. Owners may contact Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242. Blue Bird's number for this recall is R24DA.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
