Steering › Linkages › Tie Rod Assembly — Ford · reported 28 Jun 2024 · 2,718 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2025 F-Super Duty F-650 and F-750 vehicles. The front axle tie rod assemblies may contain ball studs that have been incorrectly heat-treated, which can cause them to break, and possibly result in tie rod failure.

The risk

Tie rod failure can cause a loss of vehicle steering control and increase the risk of a crash.

The fix

Dealers will inspect and replace the front axle tie rod assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 14, 2024. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S42.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
