Recall 24V603000

Electrical System › Propulsion System › Traction Motor › Controller — Motiv · reported 12 Aug 2024 · 6 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Motiv Power Systems, Inc. (Motiv) is recalling certain 2021-2023 E-450 school buses equipped with a Motiv Gen 5 EPIC powertrain. The Controller Area Network (CAN) signal wires could contact the frame rail and become damaged, causing a loss of drive power.

The risk

A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

The fix

Motiv field support technicians will inspect and repair any loose wiring and replace damaged CAN wiring as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 5, 2024. Owners may contact Motiv customer service at 1-650-458-4804.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
