Recall 24V696000

Structure › Emergency › Escape/egress/exit — Trans Tech · reported 18 Sep 2024 · 544 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Trans Tech Bus (Trans Tech) is recalling certain 2018-2021 SST, CST, SSTFLR and CSTFLR school buses. In the event of a rollover, the emergency exit windows may not open. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 220, "School Bus Rollover Protection."

The risk

An emergency exit window that does not open can increase the risk of injury.

The fix

Dealers will inspect and repair the emergency exit windows as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 25, 2024. Owners may contact Trans Tech customer service at 1-845-988-2333.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
