Recall 25V194000

Steering — BMW · reported 27 Mar 2025 · 51 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2024-2025 M 1000 XR, and M 1000 R motorcycles. The steering damper may have a loose valve pin within the housing, which can cause an unexpected increase in steering effort.

The risk

An unexpected increase in steering effort can result in a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix

Dealers will replace the steering damper, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 5, 2025. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1- 888-275-9171) or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
