Recall 25V694000 · manufacturer campaign F1026

Structure › Body — Thomas Built Buses · reported 10 Oct 2025 · 2 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2026 Thomas Built SAF-T-LINER HDX2 school buses. Rear exterior joints may have been manufactured incorrectly, resulting in insufficient joint strength. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength."

The risk

A school bus with insufficient joint strength may not adequately protect passengers in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The fix

Dealers will add additional fasteners to secure the joints, free of charge. All vehicles have been remedied. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-574-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is F1026.

Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
