Recall 26V072000 · manufacturer campaign R89978

Latches/locks/linkages — Volvo · reported 6 Feb 2026 · 2,758 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

Volvo Car USA, LLC (Volvo Car) is recalling certain 2017 S60L vehicles. A component within the door latch may break, preventing the door from latching properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components."

The risk

A door that is not securely latched can open unexpectedly, increasing the risk of injury.

The fix

Dealers will replace all four door latches, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 11, 2026. Owners may contact Volvo Car’s customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo Car's number for this recall is R89978. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on January 19, 2026. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 19V849.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
