Seat Belts › Front › Webbing — Ford, Lincoln, Mercury · reported 29 Jun 1972 · 4,072,000 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
THE SHOULDER BELT PIN CONNECTOR PLASTIC SLEEVES WHICH WERE INJECTION MOLDED CAN HAVE SURFACE IMPERFECTIONS OR DISCONTINUITIES AT THE POINT AT WHICH THERMAL PLASTIC IS INJECTED INTO MOLD AND WHERE FLOW DIVERGES TO FILL BOTH SIDES OF THE RING. IF THE CONDITION EXISTS AND THE SLEEVE BREAKS AWAY FROM THE PIN, THE SHOULDER BELT WILL NOT REMAIN ENGAGED TO THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE.
The risk
IF THE SHOULDER BELT IS SEPARATED FROM THE SEAT BELTBUCKLE, THE SHOULDER BELT WILL NOT PROPERLY PROTECT SEAT OCCUPANTS IN THE EVENTOF A SUDDENT STOP OR ACCIDENT.
The fix
REPLACE THE SHOULDER BELT PIN CONNECTOR PLASTIC SLEEVE WITH NEOPRENE RETAINERS.

Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
