What's wrong

ON THE INVOLVED VEHICLES, THE ELECTRICALLY POWERED WINDOWS MAY BE OPERATED WHEN THE IGNITION KEY IS IN THE "OFF" POSITION OR IS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. THIS CONSTITUTES A NON-COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 118, "POWER OPERATED WINDOWS".

The fix

DEALER WILL MODIFY THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO PRECLUDE POWER WINDOW OPERATION WHEN THE IGNITION KEY HAS BEEN TURNED OFF OR REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRIC POWER WINDOWS.SYSTEM: EQUIPMENT; ELECTRIC POWER WINDOWS.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: IF LEFT IN A VEHICLE WITHOUT ADULT SUPERVISION,CHILDREN COULD INJURE THEMSELVES WHILE OPERATING POWER WINDOWS.
