Recall 78V033000
Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Foundation Components › Disc — Honda · reported 15 Feb 1978 · 118,544 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
DURING VEHICLE OPERATION IN HEAVY RAIN, THERE MAY BE A NOTICEABLE INITIAL REDUCTION IN THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE REAR DISC BRAKE, FOLLOWED BY A GRADUAL RECOVERY TO NORMAL, DRY CONDITION EFFECTIVENESS. IF PEDAL FORCE IS NOT INCREASED TO COMPENSATE, LONGER STOPPING DISTANCES WILL RESULT. IF PEDAL FORCE IS NOT REDUCED AFTER RECOVERY, A REAR WHEEL SKID COULD RESULT.
The fix
THE DEALER WILL REPLACE REAR BRAKE PADS WITH PADS WHICH WILL IMPROVE BRAKING PERFORMANCE IN WET WEATHER.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES.SYSTEM: SERVICE BRAKES; REAR DISC BRAKES.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: EITHER CONDITION, INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES OR REARWHEEL SKID, COULD CAUSE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND AN ACCIDENT.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
