Recall 78V114000

Exterior Lighting — Dorsey · reported 24 May 1978 · 96 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

THE LIGHTING PLACEMENT WAS INCORRECTLY INSTALLED. THIS INSTALLATION WILL NOT PASS THE PHOTOMETRICS TEST BECAUSE IT UTILIZES THE AMBER MARKER CLEARANCE LIGHTS WITH REFLECTORIZED LENSES. THIS CONSTITUTES A NON-COMPLIANCE TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT".

The fix

THE DEALER WILL CHANGE THE LIGHT LENS TO A NON-REFLECTORIZED LENS AND ADD A REFLECTOR ON EACH CORNER AT THE FRONT OF THE TRAILER.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRAILERS.SYSTEM: LIGHTING; LIGHT INSTALLATION.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: IN EXTREME CASES, REDUCED VISIBILITY OF LIGHTS COULDLEAD TO A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
