Recall 80V112000
Vehicle Speed Control — Nissan · reported 28 Aug 1980 · 39,382 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
MOISTURE PRESENT IN THE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SYSTEM MAY, UNDER CONDITIONS OF SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURES AND LOW EGR FLOW RATE, CONDENSE AND FREEZE IN THE THROTTLE CHAMBER. AN ICING CONDITION COULD OCCUR IF THE VEHICLE OWNER FAILS TO ADEQUATELY WARM UP THE ENGINE BEFORE DRIVING. THIS COULD PREVENT THE THROTTLE FROM CLOSING COMPLETELY AND WOULD RESULT IN HIGHER THAN NORMAN IDLE RPM.
The fix
THE DEALER WILL INSTALL A THROTTLE CHAMBER HEATING KIT TO PREVENT ICING AT NO CHARGE TO OWNER.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES.SYSTEM: THROTTLE LINKAGES AND CONTROL; THROTTLE CHAMBER.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: SHOULD A HIGH IDLE CONDITION OCCUR WHEN THE ROADS AREWET, OR COVERED WITH SNOW AND ICE, HARD BRAKING COULD CAUSE LOSS OF VEHICLECONTROL AND ACCIDENT.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
