What's wrong
DUE TO A DEFICIENCY IN MATERIAL STRENGTH, THE FRONT ENGINE SUPPORT BRACKETS ON THE INVOLVED VEHICLES MAY DEVELOP CRACKS THAT COULD LEAD TO BRACKET FAILURE. THIS WOULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO DROP DOWN INTO THE RADIATOR, DAMAGING THE SHROUD, ENGINE FAN, AND OTHER ASSOCIATED PARTS. THE ENGINE THROTTLE COULD BE PULLED INTO FULL GOVERNED POSITION.
The fix
THE EXISTING SUPPORT BRACKETS WILL BE REPLACED WITH BRACKETS MADE OF DUCTILE IRON, AT NO CHARGE TO OWNER.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRUCKS.SYSTEM: STRUCTURE; FRONT ENGINE SUPPORT BRACKETS.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: WITH THE THROTTLE LOCKED IN THIS POSITION, THE DRIVERWOULD HAVE NO CONTROL OVER VEHICLE SPEED. LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND ANACCIDENT COULD FOLLOW.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
