Recall 81V103000
Equipment › Other › Labels — Volkswagen · reported 9 Sep 1981 · 7,400 vehicles potentially affected
What's wrong
THE INVOLVED PASSENGER VEHICLES WERE EQUIPPED WITH CERTIFICATION LABELS THAT FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 567 TITLE 49. THE EXISTING LABELS HAVE INCORRECT INFORMATION DESCRIBING THE VEHICLE AS A "MULTIPURPOSE PASSENGER VEHICLE" AND AN "INCOMPLETE VEHICLE". IN ADDITION, THE TIRE SELECTION LABELS DO NOT COMPLY WITH FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 110, "TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS".
The fix
THE DEALER WILL AFFIX THE CORRECT CERTIFICATION LABELS TO THE VEHICLE AT NO CHARGE TO OWNER.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES.SYSTEM: EQUIPMENT; CERTIFICATION LABELS.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: INCORRECT INFORMATION ON LABELS COULD RESULT INSELECTION OF IMPROPER REPLACEMENT PARTS AND CONSEQUENT UNSAFE VEHICLEOPERATION.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
