What's wrong
THE SPRING-HANGERS, WHICH ARE BRACKETS LOCATED ON EACH SIDE OF THE AXLE, HAVE A TENDENCY TO BEND WHEN SUBJECTED TO REPEATED OR SEVERE JOLTS OR STRESSES. EVENTUALLY THEY MAY BREAK, CAUSING THE AXLE TO BECOME DETACHED FROM THE TRAILER AND FORCING THE TOWING VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD.
The fix
A DRAWBAR APPARATUS WILL BE INSTALLED TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO THE SPRING-HANGERS. ANY DAMAGED SPRING-HANGER ASSEMBLIES WILL BE REPLACED WITHOUT CHARGE TO OWNER.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: BOAT TRAILERS.SYSTEM: SUSPENSION; SPRING-HANGER.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: THIS DEFECT CAN RESULT IN VEHICLE ACCIDENT WITHOUTWARNING, PROPERTY DAMAGE, AND PERSONAL INJURY.NOTE: OWNERS ARE URGED TO AVOID TOWING THE TRAILER OVER POOR ROADS OR ROUGHTERRAIN UNTIL REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED.
Vehicles covered by this recall
Whether a particular car is affected and still unrepaired depends on its VIN — a model year being listed does not mean every car of that year is included. Check any VIN free on CarLogs, or at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
Is this car's recall fixed?
Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
