Recall 82V022000

Fuel System, Gasoline › Delivery › Fuel Pump — Jaguar · reported 9 Mar 1982 · 3,718 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

CERTAIN VEHICLES MAY BE FITTED WITH AN UNAUTHORIZED FUEL PUMP ELECTRICAL INERTIA SWITCH. THIS SWITCH HAS A TIN COATING ADDED TO THE CONTACTS THAT CREATE THE POTENTIAL FOR A HIGH ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE. THIS COULD CAUSE OVERHEATING AND POSSIBLE DISTORTION OF THE PLASTIC MOUNTING AROUND THE FIXED CONTACT. THIS COULD RESULT IN INABILITY TO START THE VEHICLE SINCE THERE IS A FLOW OF CURRENT TO THE FUEL PUMP.

The fix

DEALER WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE INERTIA SWITCH AT NO COST TO OWNER.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES.SYSTEM: FUEL; ELECTRICAL INERTIA SWITCH.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: AN INABILITY TO RESTART THE ENGINE MAY CAUSE A TRAFFICHAZARD AND THE POTENTIAL FOR AN ACCIDENT.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
