Recall 82V059000

Structure › Frame And Members — El Dorado · reported 7 Jun 1982 · 233 vehicles potentially affected

What's wrong

THE MOUNTING OF THE CROSSMEMBER MAY BE INSUFFICIENT. CROSSMEMBERS ARE MOUNTED TO A SHIM PIECE OF SQUARE TUBING AND THEN THIS ENTIRE STRUCTURE IS MOUNTED TO THE FRAME. THE SMALL SHIM PIECE COULD BECOME DETACHED FROM THE CROSSMEMBER WHICH WOULD ALLOW THE BODY TO MOVE DOWN TWO INCHES. THIS MOVEMENT COULD PUNCTURE THE FUEL TANK.

The fix

THE CROSS MEMBER MOUNT REINFORCEMENTS WILL BE INSTALLED BY DEALER, IF NECESSARY.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: BUSES.SYSTEM: STRUCTURE; CROSSMEMBERS.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: THE FUEL TANK COULD EXPLODE AND PERSONAL INJURY ANDPROPERTY DAMAGE COULD RESULT.

Is this car's recall fixed?

Recall repairs are free at any franchised dealer, for the life of the vehicle. A CarLogs report shows the recall status for a specific VIN as reported by the manufacturer — whether it's open or repaired, and whether the fix is available yet.
